AQUA AMERICA- PENNSYLVANIA ENGINEER-PROCURE-CONSTRUCT: AQUA NESHAMINY WTP

Oakford, Pennsylvania
This Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) project was needed to tie in 20” and 16” water lines approximately 1,600 LF to existing mains and construct a temporary booster pump building. The temporary system operated 4 months while building a new permanent booster station. Included was a large electrical upgrade, new generator, reinforcing of existing plant floors to accommodate large loads from electrical gear, new HVAC cooling system, and extensive duct bank. There was extensive sitework and segmental retaining wall to accommodate new diesel generator. Reynolds value engineered a retaining wall, installed segmental block wall in lieu of a cast-in-place wall, saving a month from the schedule. Crews dealt with a 100 year old plant with unknown underground obstructions to install the 1,200 LF of water main. Also value engineered was used for the ductile piping system to allow use of pipe restraint gaskets and MJ fittings with restraint lugs in lieu of a restrained joint pipe system. Piping was re-routed many times due to the underground obstructions so we were able to accommodate field changes.
